I mean...when you have not one but two blogposts on a subject in 'saved drafts'...well, that's pathetic.So here* on Dr. Mercola's website you can read an e-article by Dr. Russell Blaylock on the dangers of excessive vaccinations, with an important response from Dr. M following it. Vaccines have (thankfully) been in the news lately, with the awarding of damages to a family whose daughter became autistic after her 18-month-old set of shots. Myriads of parents have been insisting that their son or daughter was a perfectly normal (or above normal) child until that point. The reply: Oh, but autism generally shows up at that age. Yeah. That's the point, they would say. And - 'convulsions' following the administration of multiple-innoculants cocktails really aren't damaging to the child. As if...
While acknowledging that vaccinations have historically done great good, in truly human fashion we have gone overboard with them and done wrong. Let's face up to it**.
Dr. Mercola is a naturopathic doctor and he can be over-the-top. I generally appreciate that in him! When he offered to pay a 'reward' of over $20K to any adult who would drink a cocktail of vaccinations on The Schedule for children from birth and up - adjusted for weight, of course...well, I know people might think that's just being sassy. But...why has no one taken him up on it?
I might just add that when this Boomer was born, the number of vaccinations was far less than even the 1976 number.

A dear friend of mine had a son with a suppressed immune system die from a disease contracted from a non-immunized schoolmate.
Many of the people who pick up the whole "anti-immunization" idea seem to be inconsiderate self-involved yuppies.
Thank you - A very good point. Tragic consequence. Certainly, this is at the 'crux' of the issue. The question might be: In order to protect all, how can we accomplish optimal vaccinations at what would be most basic and safe levels...rather than overloading a tiny body?
I was just thinking about those yuppies (a future post!). A group of moms in the San Francisco Bay Area babbled online about how to locate pure wool crib mattresses to avoid the evils of standard ones. Yes -- they are privileged enough to even consider such an (expensive) option. Yet, if they bring up issues that the marginalized, uneducated and - yes - poor cannot, then I give thanks for that.
There is A LOT of formaldehyde in standard mattresses. Crib death?
A question, Anonymous -- Was your friend's child vaccinated -- or, possibly, could not be?
And, can you reveal the name of the disease?
DD...as a very young child [1949/50] I was vaccinated for small pox and promptly contracted a very mild case...leaving me with a few scars and a life-long immunity... I also went into anaphalactic [sp?] shock at age 17 from a tiny bit of penicillin contained in a polio booster...[I was at the Dr's office and,obviously, survived...
BTW...it is possible that Dr M's main quote[for stealth purposes,I'm not using the Dr's name...] may be related to me...as there a "bunch" of my Dad's family who remained in the South...and "this" spelling is generally a part of our line... how about that ?
